End of this year/start of next year, I’m looking to haul my townie OH’s arse out into the countryside, ideally I want a little two bed cottage with a small garden. Having a look on local estate agents this just doesn’t appear to be happening (well, within budget anyway!).

I know you can get ‘tied’ cottages that are owned by big estates and tend to have very reasonable rents, how on earth do I go about finding one of these...

Remind me again why I decided to live in the Cotswolds?! :D

Where abouts do you want to live? The Baileys estate that has houses in Brockhampton, Charlton Abbots area will have a couple of houses coming up for rent soon but I'm not sure of the sizes :)

That is EXACTLY where I would be looking, horse is stabled between Brockhampton and Hawling :D

Also worth looking at the National Trust - they occasionally have cottages for rent. If you were more Cirencester way then the Bathurst Estate has some lovely properties.

Ooh I used to hack around there a couple of years ago, very nice!

I think OH would object to Cirencester, I'm lucky I've just about got him to move this far out of town, if we can find him a village cricket team that should seal the deal! :D

Where Cop-Pop has suggested though is the exact area I want to live, not too far from town, good access for OH to drive to work and most importantly of all... close to my horse! (oh and a bit closer to my parents and further away from his *insert evil grin*)

Shame it's too far - there's a cricket team based in Cirencester Park

"tied" cotages are usually part of an employment deal by estates for their staff - not available to the general public

Salperton have a couple of cottages to let - or had a month ago, when we were looking! Estate cottages are not particularly cheap - try Bathurst or Miserden.

R A Bennett Chelt) have a 2 bed cottage with a small garden on the Andoversford/Bourton road at the moment
