Finding A field to rent

im trying to find a field to rent in herts or essex, as currently have 2 horses at seperate yards, i really open to different things, from a field that needs work or a small yard to share with friends. but just cant seem to find anything - willing to pay a fair price. i just cant find anything - any surgestions on were to look - or does anyone no of any were or could recomend a field.
 
I just drove around asking local farmers and horsey people. It took me a morning and I found a lovely field which the owners hadnt even thought of renting out

Same as above - I went around the local farms asking if they had a spare paddock. I ended up with an amazing field, with a small yard and post and railed paddocks that had been used for farmers donkeys in the past, but was now unused. The best bit was they didn't want any rent as they enjoyed watching the horses, without the hassle of looking after them

Have you tried your local council, they also sometimes have agencies that manage some of thier land ours is called English Partnerships, which i know they have lots of contracts around the country managing local council land. Might be worth a call their land is reasonably cheap too good luck in your search.
 
I found mine by putting an advert up on the classifieds section of Frogpool manor. I mentioned I was looking for grazing for 2 or 3 with at least one stable and a little store, and that I would be happy to do all maintainence myself and could provide references. Someone contacted me and I have my dream set up now - about 6 acres, 2 stables and a store and they pretty much leave me to it.
