Got the most superbly bred little 5 year old tb in, had him since xmas and he's seriously quality but he's not easy. He's very stubborn and wont put in any effort if he doesnt want to do something. He's not nasty but he does bronc when he's cross and he can be a bit colty. He doesnt do much in his movement but does point his toes as he loves himself. He's terrified of poles, he jumps but no way will he touch them and if he does, he wont jump for a considerable time after!
He does like hacking and he is sweet.

I dont see anyway we'll be able to sell him so he'll probs be here until he sorts himself out but we dont have nayone to ride him for at least another 2 months.

Any bright ideas? Bit put off putting him on projecthorses as dont want someone who thinks they can 'sort him out' as he just needs tact and love!!

Is it worth putting him in H&H with a nice photo & an honest description with a 'price on application' - this does put some people off but this is a fairly specific case. Not sure if you'd consider loaning or any other option, but you could 'vet' people on the phone a bit before giving them their options/price...

Are you actually looking for someone to ride him for a couple of months? If so, would you consider moving him to another yard (i.e. close to a rider)?

No we cant afford to pay for him to go anywhere, unfortunately he's very low priority!

Yes my sister thought maybe she'd put an ad in H&H, I just hate selling horses like this as people lie and think they can cope with everything and then either have trouble when they try the horse or the horse goes to the wrong home.

No use to you but it sounds like you have the clone of my TB - identical in fact!! You need someone who has time to "persuade" him round to the idea of things so he thinks he was actually his idea but I am sure you know this! Mine has incredible ability - when he can be bothered!

No no, what I meant is that you just let someone to ride the horse and they are sharing the costs. When I sold my own horses I still needed to ride so had arrangments similar to this - I get horses from people who are either injured or can't ride for some time (most of them have been my pupils but also some complete strangers!). I have nothing to ride now hence my question.

Ah yea, may be possible to find someone local I suppose, may be worth an ad or something. Cant think of anyone off top of my head though.
Hmmmm......

Yes we're seriously cross he couldnt go hunting this year as I'm pretty sure that would sort him out and make him a little less precious!!
May do that, someone's offered to hunt him on Dartmoor for us in September
