Who's changed farrier and how did you go about it? It's like the ruddy Mafia round here, they all know each other, were apprentices together and frequently pair up to share days. I can't ring round to ask if anyone has space on their list because they will likely tell mine.
My farrier has been shoeing mine for over 10 years until the last year without any issues but his standards seem to have dropped. He isn't a man to be told what to do but I have dropped some heavy hints and even had to call him back for a particularly horrid set of shoes.

Can you go to the FRC? It isn't unusal for Farriers to refuse to paoch - but the FRC should be able to tell you who is slightly out of area.

I use a trimmer now, but when I needed a farrier and the usual asking on local horsey FB groups didn't work, then I looked on the Farrier website where they are all listed with areas covered and contact details etc
