Am i advertising in the right place as i have had only joy riders wanting to share my horse.

Ive advertised in Preloved, my local ad trader, equine ads, friday-ad, gumtree.

Can anyone help out on where im going wrong?

Thanks

Bite the bullet and think about paying £20 to advertise on Horsemart. It is such a busy site. When I advertised my mare I had about 30 replies I think. I think about 3 or 4 of them could have come good.

My single male friend finally decided to join a dating website that he had to pay for rather then the free ones. He said the difference in the 'class' of lady to either message or who were now messaging him was unbelievable. I think there is some merit in this when advertising a horse :)

I think your right, i have been debating it for a few weeks now and i think im going to just have to do it.

Agree with billie1007 even when buying a horse, the class of horse I went to see from those advertised in horsemart to horse and hound were world's apart.

Just wondered if there was any news, did you have much response? Have you found anyone?

I'm just thinking about possibly looking for a sharer for our little cob. Was going to sell him but I'm completely fed up with muppets calling up asking stupid questions & time-wasters coming & upsetting him :-(

How does this 'sharing' work?

How does this 'sharing' work?

Its basically someone who rides and helps out for a small financial contribition basically, its the best type of thing to try if you just need a helping hand.

There are no ridden pics, that would put me off a bit. I know it's only a share but you still want to know that the horse is worked.

Could you not put some ridden pics up?

The fact she's green and needs brining on wouldn't necessarily put me off but it may do some.

She looks/sounds lovely. Hope you find someone for her

I am a sharer, and I came across my horse on Equine Adverts, so these websites do work I promise! The owner of my horse waited about 2 months I think until I got in touch, so it is just a matter of waiting I'm afraid!

Have you tried searching all the usual sites for people advertising for a share/part loan wanted? There are always loads of adverts from people looking to find a horse so you could do a bit of searching yourself. Also, you could try putting up an advert in local riding schools, most people who want a share/part loan tend to have gotten as far as they can with lessons and want to take the next step, but for whatever reason (financial, lack of experience etc) they dont want to buy a horse.

I had a look at your ad - she is lovely, if I were nearby I would have definitely been in touch! The only thing that would put me off weirdly is the lack of chores - us sharers are a strange bunch and I love getting involved with the care of my share horse, that is what riding lessons cant give you, that relationship with the horse so I really enjoy that side of things. If I knew all I could do was the ride the horse and thats it, I would feel more like I am there just to exercise the horse which isnt what most sharers want.

Have you thought about looking for a rider to come and bring her on, rather than a sharer if you dont want your sharer getting involved with the care of the horse?

Just a few more tips for your advert (this is the kind of information I would have liked to have known before I went to see my share horse):
- What I would be able to do with the horse (i.e. could I compete? Could I have lessons on her?)
- What the yard is like & facilities available
- Is there any transport available if I wanted to compete?
- More pictures (of her being ridden ideally)
- Cost (you say £25 - is that per month or per week?) Any extra costs for shoes, vets etc?
- How many days per week could I have the horse?

Hope this helps and good luck!
