My horse has been out of action for years now. I've worked for a couple of dealers for the past few years riding 6 to 10 horses a day 6/7 days week, suddenly stopped in July this year as I couldn't afford to live off £100 a week any longer.

Since then I've ridden a friends horse maybe once a month, I'm feeling very deflated as I feel like I've lost all the muscle and fitness I worked hard for.

I have tried advertising looking for horses to ride, but only been offered the odd lame horse that's been out of work for months. I can't afford to share really, if I was going to pay out it would have to be a horse that I had the opportunity to compete a bit, something in it for me. All of the shares I find are wanting me to pay for the privilege of schooling their horse for them, I even had one wanting me to break it in!!

Ive also emailed local dealers offering to ride for free but no luck there.

Does anyone know of anywhere in the area that offers proper schoolmaster lessons for experienced riders, I don't want to pay for a lesson to kick a horse round the outside track, I don't have money to burn.

I'm just feeling at a bit of a loss, there's no way I can afford another horse and I just can't seem to find anything at all. Its such a pain because I'm pretty useful! Very competent breaking/schooling on etc, I've done nothing but ride babies for the last year, I'm sure someone could use me.

Any ideas? Based near Yarm/Middlesbrough/Darlington/North Yorks etc

Can you ride during the week? If so why not try advertising again now that the nights are longer. There may be people wanting wanting their horses exercised while they are at work. I put a note once in my local tack shop and ended up riding a lady's horse - she was happy that the horse was being ridden more than just the weekend. Perhaps try asking if you could advertise through the local riding clubs news letters.

Hi, we are hopefully getting our horse next week, he's going to need schooling and bringing back to fitness due to little use by his current owner, he's got a tendency to pace a bit, we are new to horse ownership so maybe we could help each other out, he's 18 but seems to be doing very well and is been vetted tommorow,

It would be free to you and we are going to be keeping him at Upsall grange near Middlesbrough.
