Finding the right home for my man - advice please

I need to sadly sell my 16.2 gelding as I am struggling to find the time and money for him with two small children. It has been such a hard decision but now I have made it I want him to go to a home where he will be loved and enjoyed. I haven't sold a horse in the last 10 years and have no real idea how to go about finding him the right home but doing it quickly as I am not able to commit time wise and fiancially wise to him anymore. I have posted an add online but can't really afford to place it in the magazine, is this silly, should I put him in the magazine so more people see him? I only need one person ,the right person to fall in love. I have put him on youtube for future referance but not yet put a link in the add as not sure about the video, my friend rode him for me so I could work the camcorder, but she had never ridden him before so not sure if it really shows him off to his best. He is a gorgeous boy. Certainly something I would have. The one thing that stands out is your friend is very busy with her hands and this is causing alot of movement in his head and coming behind the contact. He is going nicely but it just portrays that he is hard to work into an outline and maybe a little heavy on the forehand. In your post you don't state how old he is so it is a little difficult to tell if this is just to being a baby or not. Also, if he jumps, it would be an excllent idea to add this to the advert and the video. On the whole he looks a lovely sort and I am sure there will be someone out there that will snap him up.

There are other forums that you could put his details on or it may be worth advertising him in local tack shops. Where abouts are you?
 
He is 6 years old but quite green as he only came over from poland last year. We are based in Hampshire. He does jump but is a bit of a chicken when it comes to fillers, mind you that might be me! We went round a little hunter trial the other day and got round with a lot of encouragement from me but he is very easy on the flat. The last time out at an unnafilliated dressage he got 69.5% in his novice test. He has been out a few times last winter with the bloodhounds and behaved very well. He needs to go to a confident loving person who wants to do affiliated dressage and maybe see where he goes jumping wise if thats what they want to try. He finds lateral work quite easy and he is very trainable on the flat. He is a real character who likes to spend time chatting to people and generally making you smile.
 
I am looking for £7500 ono, he has good breeding, northan dancer/ Danzig bloodlines and is very special. I often have to take him places on my own so load him in the trailer and go off to competitions or clinics and he is very good for a baby horse, I can tack him up and put studs in etc and leave him tied up while I check times etc. He has always been placed at dressage and is ready for someone to affiliate now and have fun on, or someone who wants a top quality Riding club dressage horse. I only want to recoup what I paid for him a year and a half ago so I think he is a fair price for such a quality lovely gentleman.
 
he is gorgeous, although sorry to say but your friend riding him isn't really doing him any justice, I dont wish to sound out of line, but she seems to be fiddling/sawing on his mouth showing that he as others have said looks like he's hard to ride/maintain a nice soft contact, and she also seems to be rushing a bit with him, not encouraging hind qtrs, but please only take this as I would see from a buyers point of view, he is very very handsome though.

How much you looking at selling him for?
 
I'm going to get someone to video me tommorow so will add that on. I know what you mean about being inconsistent in the contact, I have to say I think that he is normally much more even and steady in his head, but it is very hard to ride young horses especially when they're used to one rider and you know you're being filmed!
 
dont take this the wrong way but......i think 7.5k is rather steep!!!, his breeding does not really matter as he is a gelding, and 9/10 TB's have northern dancer bloodlines!!! for that amount of money you can get a horse with BSJA money BD points etc, he also needs work jumping and flat so is more of a project
 
Lovely little chap; he really is and is really working hard for your friend but agree with others definatley dont use that vid to sell him as his poor mouth is being hauled all over the place!

On say that but christ knows what I would look like if someone filmed me!

My friend just sold a lovely black mare 16hh who hadn't really done much of anything and would need schooling and bringing on for £5k and there is no way she moved like Boston. Another friend is selling her 16.2 11 year old who has done a little of everything but hardly anything in the last two years for 5k. All I know is that although I haven't affiliated him dressage he has been to about 10 unaffiliated dressage competitions all over the south and each time he gets in the high 60's% region and lovely comments from the judges and 8's for his paces. Also people want something with sparkle but tha isn't too sharp, the fact that he is easy to handle is wortha lot and I think people will appriciate a horse that has a lovely character. I don't want a machine I want a friend aswell as something that will perform. Sorry if I sound defensive but he really is special.
 
I forgot to say I am open to offers as obviously the longer I keep him the more money it costs and we are still having two lessons every week which adds up. I will post a video of me riding him tonight, I know when I get on a new horse it is hard to get them to go how they do for their owners so I think the video shows how he would look with somone trying him out not a representation of how he is working now.
