I am supposed to be going eventing tomorrow, and giving someone a lift. Now after last weekend's 'driving home in the rapidly dimming lights OMG ITS GONE DARK' moment, I got a mechanic on to fixing the truck straight away.
He was meant to come Tuesday....then Wednesday....then yesterday....and he finally turned up today. I'd bought the new alternator belt on Monday, so that was all good, and he fitted and the lorry is running - hurray!
Except (and there is always a but) - the reason the belt melted is that the alternator has seized (bearings) and I need a new one. He is off to buy me one and fit it - and as yet (an hour after I spoke to him) he hasn't rung to say the part is not in stock....so please please can we cross our fingers that the truck is back in action by tomorrow?!
I am considering investing in some torches to strap to the front otherwise as it runs, the battery just does not charge!!
Eventing is just so dramatic - last two seasons every event has been a bit of a drama as no guarantee horse would SJ, this season the ultra-reliable truck is doing its best to take the place of the horse in providing me with stress!
