Finishing off a rabbit

Just remembered something I meant to ask a while back - Henry came very close to getting a rabbit this morning. It looked pretty sick and allowed us to get really close before it ran so I think it might have had mixy.

I'm not a bunny hugger but mixy is a nasty way to go...

I'm a bit worried that Henry will catch one but not kill it and I will have to finish it off - I don't know how to do it though! Can anyone advise?

break its neck!!put its head in betwen your two fingers then pull!! sounds graphic but its the quickest way.

I always see mixy rabbits when I'm out hacking, I wish I was brave enough to despatch them, but I'm terrified I'll get it wrong.

for the squeamish who don't want to feel its neck break between their fingers - put it's head under your foot with its neck against the outside edge of your boot, and then pull its hind legs up hard at an angle towards you. this works perfectly and is very quick.

I'm not squemish, but I think I might dare doing it that way! I'm just worried I won't do it well enough and it would still be alive and mangled!

Do u go on there Hen? My OH is registered on there

Ps, my OH also does the fingers around neck and pull thing, it's very quick

Or simply get a rescue greyhound - they dont mess around, bunny is dead within seconds

The boys will usually finish it off, thought they are disapointed that the sqeaky toy stops working too quick. If not shock usually sets in and kills them quickly.

Another effective way is to pick them up by the hind legs and find a post or tree trunk, you can close your eyes with atree trunk if you wish, one really good swing usually does it, if all else fails put them in front of the car wheel and drive forwards!

Not a big fan of bunnies, little Bast*rds keep digging holes in my paddocks!! They make excellent dog food though!

A Spaniel and a greyhound, jeez that would be an exciting mix! You'd be living on rabbit stew for the rest of your life

What a bloodthirsty lot we are on here (joke joke!)

Lets hope Henry does the job properly but now I will know what to do if he doesn't - thanks guys.

I did know the theory vaguely but was worried I would muck it up so wanted to check.
