Just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to Tori and Helen for finding such a lovely loan home for my aged dressage schoolmaster Gus......

Tori & Helen came up to see Gus yesterday with his potential new loaner and they all had a go at putting him through his paces and I think they all enjoyed themselves at the same time.....

Tori - you really need to stop questioning your riding!!! You rode Gus better than I ever did..... and we need to see the copious amounts of pictures that were taken yesterday!!!!

His new loan owners are lovely people and all this would not have been possible without Tori's and Helen's help.... and I hope you both enjoy riding him when you can (been agreed in loan agreement that Tori and Helen can ride him too when they have time!)

SO THANK YOU GUYS!!!

Twigs said she will put the pics on at work tomorrow, i think

They are all very excited about him arriving!

Twiglet was in charge of the camera!!! We NEED to see the piccies!!!

All this has been sorted out in a matter of days thanks to Tori's quick thinking.... they wanted to take Gus home yesterday!!! I'm sure once he is fit again and back into the swing of things, he will be very happy there.....

And how Tori managed sitting trot on him I will never know - then again I suppose they are all thinking how Ovidius got on him from the floor is a mystery too!!! However my back is paying for that one this morning!

Gus is the grey in my siggie for those wondering, and he is a 20 yr old advanced dressage horse who acculmulated 383 points!!! (Now downgraded to Novice level!)

I am so glad you have found a perfect home for him... you'll have to remove it from your signature now, he has found one
smile.gif

That is why I like this forum... you meet such lovely people, some of whom you would never meet any other way

I cant get on anything bigger than 17.2 from the floor!!! As Lisa said yesterday, "There's nothing wrong with your hips" Nope, she's right there, its just the rest of the body that lets me down!

Right off to get ready now and load the lorry with copious amounts of rugs and other things and then get the man and make our way to Essex!
grin.gif

Well spotted Becki, will do that now!
grin.gif

Am very grateful for your help Tori..... we shall have to do lunch one Sunday!
grin.gif

Tori said they were very excited and looking forward to his arrival today!!!

Siggie now updated......

And yes Tori, Mr Schmoe is feeling rather put out that you came to ride Goggins and he was not even visited by his favourite Auntie.....

Right time to jump in shower and get sorted out...... Will let you all know later how he settled etc.....
grin.gif

Well he is here
laugh.gif

Arrived a couple of hours ago, and was happily munching when I left him - just had a call to say he is snoozing as well, so he's obviously settling in rather quickly.

He is lovely - absolutely enormous!! A real sweetie with amazing paces - I was giggling like a maniac during the medium trot, was like being on an enormous trampoline
smile.gif

He's going to get lots of attention and fuss and be brought back into work with loads of short schooling sessions and hacks and hopefully get him out to lessons in a month or so with a view to competing after that.

He's going out in a field with Twiglet, who is going to look like a minature Shetland standing next to him!!

Ovidius, it was lovely to meet you and Trevor and I know his loaners are grateful for the opportunity to learn a lot from 'Monsignor Goggins'!!

Tori, your riding has improved loads and you got some really lovely work from him - hence why we're dragging you down to Essex regularly to work with him!!

I'm just downloading some pics now - will put them on this post
laugh.gif

Thanks again Ovidius - you will be inundated with updates on his progress xx

Ok........pics a promised:
FinnMcCoul/Tori bagsying first go......for those of you who don't know Tori she's 5'8" (I think?) which shows how huge Gus is!!

And I have to show this one because even though it didn't catch Gus at the best moment, Tori's position is textbook!

The enormous trot!!

His new loaner, Sophie. She was quite nervous - think she had a bit of vertigo!!

Spectacularly bad photo of me, Gus thought so too, hence his expression:

Awwww bless!!!

God if Tori is 5'8 then I must look like a pea on a drum riding him! I'm only 5'6, but thankfully most of that is legs!!!

Love the piccie of you Twigs! Classic of Goggins!!!

And good god, I'm shocked.... that pic of me isn't too bad!!! Didn't even know you had taken that one!

he was very chilled when we left (have just walked in the door as had to do all the mucking out etc when I got back!!!) and have spoken to L, and she said that Sophie wouldn't leave him till the bolts were done...... Lovely piccies!!!!

Shall look forward to copious amounts of piccies and updates (you must take piccies lots and lots!)

Discussion with L, planning to get together in a few weeks time and do lunch and L wants to meet my others..... so we'll have to sort something out and you come along as well and you can ride Mr Schmoe!
grin.gif

Excellent, would love to have a go on the even bigger boy!!

Glad they got the bolts sorted, was worried he'd only have to lean on that door and he'd be through it!

First ride is tomorrow so hopefully weather will be ok and Sophie can start getting to grips with him - and try a canter!

Am so pleased it has worked out for the best - Gus seems like he's going to be lovely to have around and I think he is going to teach Sophie enormous amounts. Her trainer is very keen to see her riding a proper dressage horse for the first time
laugh.gif

I think one bang from his knee and the door would be no more!!! Mr Schmoe will seem smaller! Dont know what it is but think big grey's look bigger for some reason! Hope all goes well tomorrow, suggested leading him round school first to make him have a good look round, then there are no excuses for being a spook monster!
he is a very laid back old man.... in fact found his passport on way home (buried in the lorry) and he isn't 20 till June 4th!!! so bless him, he's still 19!
I am sure once Sophie has got used to him, he will help her lots! Although the most entertaining moments will come, when you think you are asking for one thing and get something completely different! (beleive me, I still have those moments now!)
grin.gif

Aww fabulous news........ now you have no excuse not to visit us too when you come down to visit Gus. Baba Ru would like to show off what she has learn't to her Auntie Ovidious!

Well done you guys!

And how often do you know me to visit loaners? Not often!!! So far have always had excellent people loaning, so no need to check up on them!
grin.gif

As usual you are right..... now I have to think of another reason to get you down here!! hum.... thinking here!!

I am so glad that it has come right for every one

Well I have lots of updates! The new loaners ring me everyday to report back his antics and I am pleased to say there haven't been any! They are chuffed to pieces with him and he has been on his best behaviour since arriving, even being turned out yesterday with his new friends without a problem......
I am sure he wont be coming back!
grin.gif

woohoo!!!! I expect a FULL report later.... then again, I know what will be said....

He was an angel, he didn't do anything blah blah blah!!!
