Drove back through the village a little while ago and saw fire engines outside the house we keep our horses at.

Ran into our house and got OH and we ran down. The firemen wouldn't let us down to the horses at first but I begged them and I was escorted down the drive. Luckily horses were fine, they are out 24/7 in the field behind the house and it was the house that was on fire. They really didn't seem bothered at all, Blue even tried mugging the fireman, who seemed a bit scared of him!

It turned out owners had got back and wondered why electric gate wasn't working. They got into yard and saw windows were smashed through the heat. They opened the door and called the dog who wouldn't come as she was scared so they ran in and got her.

We have brought dog back home with us, she seems ok despite her ordeal but stinks of smoke so is going in the bath in a bit.

Poor owners are looking at a considerble amount of time in a hotel.

All that because of a dishwasher......

but at least humans and animals are all fine.

Off to bath the dog, our house stinks of smoke now.

Blimey, lucky they got home when they did.

My OH despairs of me because I won't have the dishwasher or tumble dryer on at night, or when we're out for that reason.

Oh gosh, how long had the dog been in there for?
Hopefully he will be ok as smoke rises and they do say to crawl or get down low in a fire, but maybe ot would be best to get a vet to check him over, cos if like humans smoke inhalation is really serious.

I try not to leave anything electrical on when I go out as I had fright once with a tumble dryer, I was just about to go out, and put it on so clothes would be done by the time I got home and it just exploded on me, Lucky I managed to pull plug out, it was starting to smoke It was rather frightning.

Poor owners must be devestated.

How awful! At least all the animals are okay.

I used to work at a school that was set on fire one break time. The memories of it have stayed with me for a very long time.

Glad Horses, Dog and people are all ok! Hope there isn't too much damage

Oh what a fright

I went through this last October and I wouldn't wish a house fire on anyone. We were so lucky that no one was in the house nor were any of the animals, nor did I lose anything particularly sentimental.

The consolation of course is that I now have a completely redecorated house, new carpets, curtains etc throughout - courtesy of the Insurance Company

So glad all animals and humans were okay. How scarey to hear of this, and the experiences of others who have posted on here too.

I'm so glad everyone was ok - specially the poor doggie who was in the house at the time. Have to count your blessings and look on the bright side.

I was trained as a electrical fitter and there is no way on this planet i would have any major appliance running whilst we are out except ovens - they are designed with extreme heat in mind.

But a timely reminder - we have started to get lazy and leave the dishwasher to do it's final rinse whilst we've gone out. Cheers.
