This is in relation to horseboxes but I know a fireman who is getting fed up with horse owners who put their lives in danger through incidents where horses have escaped through inadequate fencing or ended up in bogs and ponds and the like when they should have been fenced off. Or another incident when a horse got entangled in an old caravan on the land. Went through the door to get at the food stored there are couldn't get out.

We can help ourselves here folks, large animals in distress can really hurt someone, firemen, vets, helpers, etc etc

Daft things horses, some of them do the stupidest things. Sadly, we as owners, don't always look out for those things that the horses can't be expected to work out for themselves.

That design of horsebox, for instance. There's a door in front of them, they want to get out through it. There are those on the market which are designed with quick release breastbars and a door wide enough to safely lead a horse through. People don't want to pay for a good design though, just the cheapest and shiniest they can get.
