i think we all ought to say a huge THANKYOU to those who did this, a very difficult dangerous task (even if the horse was sedated by vet), cold, wet, and with the danger of really hurting their backs etc. Thank goodness our rescue services are so dedicated and so brilliant. lucky horse.

Must have missed the story (no pun intended!), but yes they do a fantastic and dangerous job, but without whom a lot of animals, not just horses, would suffer and die horribly. Many congratulations and thanks for all they do.

It's the story on the horse and hound website, the rspca went to a horse in a ditch and had the fire service and vet attend to get it out which took about 5 hours or so.
