Think this was done last week but cant find post. I have left old wooley out, others out too. What are you guys doing, horses, ponies in stable or out in the field tonight? We are in a village, but Wooley has seen fireworks before.

Just brought ours in. They were out on saturday night to start with but were charging around the field so we decided to bring them in. Cammie box walked for ten minutes and then went off to eat his dinner totally relaxed . So this evening we decided to bring them in before the fireworks get going.

We are lucky our yard never even hears fireworks or sees them, we are just off a dual carriageway so no one wants to have fireworks there !

We're fairly close to a Motorway and I assumed (wrongly it seems) that we wouldn't have too much of a problem .You can only see trees on the other side of the road. I hadn't realised that on the other side of the Motorway, in the middle of the trees, is a venue hired out for weddings and parties. They held one of their parties on saturday with 25 -30 mins of constant aerial noise. Our horses didn't appreciate it as you can imagine.

Ours we have south downs all the way round there are no other buildings that arnt other yards for a while apart from a petrol station!

I have got no personal experience of this but I was asking my riding instructor at the weekend what she did with the horses around this time of year and she said that she preferred to keep them out as they are in their natural enviroment and would be better able to cope with fireworks as they were able to run about if they needed to and if they were kept in they would feel more trapped and therefore more stressed. Her horses didn't seem at all fazed though. Maybe a nervous horse would feel safer in their box.

my two are in but most of the yard horses are out. mine are only in because of that awful fog that comes with fireworks and my mare being a cluts in her field lol

she hurts herself in broad day light nevermind in fog

Mine stays in every night in any case. We had a small bonfire in one of the fields on Friday night and I thought I would creep over to her stable and she how she was - needn't of worried, she was fast asleep, along with her companions - not one of the horses on the yard was bothered. But I suppose they are used to loud bangs & flashing lights, they propbably thought it was a bad thunder storm!
