i have a slight deilema the yard i am at is based on the out skirts off a couple of houseing estates. and well being that time of year that we all love so very much my horse has turned in to a stressy monster,
he is usally calm and chillled out in his stable but the fire works have started to night and well the head throwing and box walking have started.
he has never been like this before with fire works has done it with the snow falling off the roof at old yard.
when it was the snow i have had to go to vets and give him some sedalin to chill him out in his stable. is it worth giving him some on friday so he dont get over stressed.
any one got any other suggestions
have tried him on magic too

thanks stressy mum worring about bonfire night :S

Horrible problem, I hate fireworks as well!

Two possible things which may help.

Either leave in with light on in stable and brightest light you can arrange shining upwardds outside his stable (floodlight ideal). Failling that hang a torch outside the stable shining back into the stable. Put music on loudly in the stable as well - I hang a couple of radios up high on (the same) noisy station so the noise really echos around the stable.

Alternatively if you are lucky enough to have a calm companion and a relatively remote field you could try leaving him out in that he can run off his stress and the calm horsse will be a good influence.

Good luck.
