First agility show in 6 weeks!

Good luck! You will be hooked, it's terribly addictive. Weaves seem to be the last thing to stick, I still hold my breath for twelve weaves as mine's a devil for popping out.

The best advice I had when starting out was to walk the course until you can replicate your movements away from it - and relax, it's supposed to be fun! :)

I am currently doing agility training with my daughters Lancashire Heeler and I think weaves are going to be the hardest for him to grasp. He is still at the channel stage at the moment, but ducks out every so often. I used to compete in agility years ago with my GSDs and loved it, I still ran my dogs when pregnant and actually qualified for Crufts 2 weeks before I had my daughter (which wasn't quite what I had intended but she was 3 weeks early). :)

Yeah I do! good luck, its great fun! My dog used to get very star struck and just stand there or run out the ring, very very embarrassing.

I've competed at agility for 14 years now. I haven't been to a show since September last year and haven't done any training since October! The highlight of my agility career was Skye competing at Crufts in Novice Agility in 2011.

how fast can you run whilst pregnant?

Not very! :D

I used to compete loads a few years ago (before the gradings changed!) but my dog died suddenly so I gave up.
Got a new dog though (well, nabbed OHs working sheepdog) and she's brilliant, loves it and so keen to please.

Training is a problem as its a 3 hour round trip to the nearest club so I can't go every week and she's needed for hill lambing straight after the show for a month so won't be able to train at all, but she seems to remember it quite well.

I literally can't remember training weaves with my first dog, so either he just got it or I've erased it from memory haha! I'm going to buy some broom handles to cut in half and make my own at home to practice!

I'm having so much fun, kicking myself for not getting going again sooner though!
Does anyone run an ABC? My old dog was a lurcher.

I run a Siberian husky - I've not yet met another one competing!

We started out in a 'for fun' club so weaves for us were old spacing V-weaves, so knackered that they dropped down as the dog went through, and luring them through with bits of cheese. :o I retrained her entry at home with a sort of 2 by 2 method and I'm nearly happy with her weaves now.

Now the sled dog season is over I've started booking in for the summer agility shows instead, I can hardly wait as she's doing really well.

Good luck! I started agility with my collie last year, and am re starting in a couple of weeks, but only once a week so progress is slow! Think it will be a while before I'm brave enough to go public lol!

Good luck!!!!!!!!! Just started before Christmas with my recuse BC, he is great....I'm rubbish haha. Did flyball and obedience with my last BC but this boy has not ball drive, but is loving agility, we are doing obedience too. I think the agility however has really helped socialise him and get a good recall too and build a bond.

Hope the competition goes well! Best of luck!!!!!!!

I do it with my BC bitch and just started with my pup. Started doing a few independent shows with a view to doing kc later this year. I started it after having to give up my horse, still missing riding like mad, but it is a reasonable distraction lol. We got eliminated in every class at our first show, one clear round out if 4 at the next, and at our 3rd show, 3 clears and out first placing :)
