My first aider certificate is due to expire next March which I did with these folks http://www.leven-first-aid.co.uk/ when another local RC organised a training course

Having a look at trying to find local first aid courses. BHS Scotland have dates up for 2013 but looking at their website, looks like I would have to do the two day initial course rather than the refresher course since my original course was not by them.

Can anyone recommend a good first aid trainer/course ideally around Edinburgh area or am I best to do the BHS one?

I did the BHS two day one when a company called Pro-Medical were doing the courses for them. Best bit of training I've done (& I've been nursing 20+ years!!). They do do courses all around the country & I'm sure might be up your way at some point...

I'm very close to you!

I get first aid training as a weeks course because of my work. It's very intense and a lot more detailed with a test on the final day. It needs renewed every 3 years. I do however do a day course every 2 years aswell by the people in your link which is offered by BRC and we usually tie in with our local pony club. I probably get offered this as I'm on my clubs committee .

I am on a RC committee too for my sins ;). Problem is that three of us did the training three years ago and another bunch did it last year so we are all out of synch.

Will check them out. I get defib and CPR training annually with my work but that doesn't include basic first aid or injuries. I am keen to do a good course as some ones that I have heard about seem to be a waste of time

To find the right webpage I googled pro-medical, & it was the ESFAC page.I'm sure if you ring & talk to them, they'll advise you on whats best. He was very straight talking... I'm wanting to go back & do some further training with them...
