WHAT a stressful day!!! Tomorrow is our riding school's BIG show. We have a couple of smaller ones during the year, but August bank holiday is THE one, and we can't wait.

So we thought we'd really posh Dolly up - done all our bathing, trimming, everything. So had a go at black hoof paint. First time. :o

I didn't actually do bad painting it on. Prepped her hooves first by giving them a good scrub and brush, making sure no bits or anything on them. Like a good decorator! :p Quite pleased actually. Avoided getting any on her legs (plenty on me and the floor!!!) and we were looking good.

I sat back on my heels to admire my handywork. Dolly decided it was a good idea to have a REALLY good itch - first she rubbed one hoof on the back of one leg, then the other. :(:confused::eek:

So she ended up with two black socks.:eek::eek:

Then the heavens opened. :(

Eventually managed to scrub it off her legs, me, daughter, the floor, the grooming box.........the list goes on.

NEVER AGAIN!!! That is all.

ps everyone, please send good luck to Daughter and Dolly for tomorrow!!! I'm on the wine after the day I've had, but you can share my ben and jerrys if you want!!! :o

Ha ha, that sounds very frustrating after all your hard work! It's only fair that they now do well tomorrow, you have had your bad karma :D very best of luck to them - take pictures (hopefully minus black socks!) X

It didn't help that I think both me and daughter were having a hormonal day :o I can laugh now, but blimey I wasn't before!!!!! Daughter actually said "mum, go home and have a brew and chill out!" :o I was like :mad::mad:

Why did she have to itch??? She never itches!!!!!

ps thank you for good luck wishes!!! :)

Oh dear!!! I hate that black paint stuff I get it everywhere too!!
My handy hint black effol a lot easier to get off on the night before then clear varnish in the morning a lot less mess!! Hehe
Good luck I'm sure they will do well.
We're off to a show tommorow round the corner to the show I very first went to when I got a pony!!! Will be very strange going back 20 years later with daughter!!!

It's when a child spills the oil all over their clean white jods 10 minutes before they're due to get on that has my blood pressure soaring at camp! At least the bloody pony won't cry :D

Good luck tomorrow to all of Team Redmone :D

Good luck! Think I may be popping down the Croft End tomorrow so I'll be looking for you!

Well I'm completely dim when it comes to recognising people, or remembering who they are, so do say hello (and excuse me if I'm having a complete stress out over something unimportant!!!)!!! You won't miss me, I'm a short (overweight :o) red haired goth and my OH will be doing the parking - he has long black dredlocks and a lot of tattoos!!!!:D:cool:

Thanks! :D

*falls over laughing*
Don't you just LOVE moments like that!!!!

NO. :mad::rolleyes:;)

Good luck! What we do with our shettie is cut tge feet off some cheap thick tights and stretch over leg then apply pain, stops them scratching it off and stops poo stains

I read that as you cut the feet off the shettie and then paint them!!! I was buying into that idea actually.....:D

Thanks chuck! Good luck to you and yours too!!! I'd love them to do well tomorrow, this show means the most to them out of everything they do. The last 2 years (still can't believe it's 2 years!!!) daughter has fallen off in the jumping, both times!!! WE HAVE TO BREAK THE CURSE!!!!! Show update will follow, once we've all recovered......

:D

Good luck to dolly and daughter for tomorrow, unless they're doing handy horse as Chloe has her eye on that trophy! Think we passed you on the yard on thurs, going by the descriptions above :) There was a dreadlocked horsebox driver just leaving as we got to Chloe's stable...

Oh what a bloody shame!! You know, I saw two people at Chloe's stable and looked over at you from the passenger seat. Even said to husband, "wonder if that's my HHO friends!!!" Poop!!!!

Thanks re tomorrow! You can keep the Handy Horse trophy (actually the firm of accountants I work for is sponsoring that class!!!!) as Dolly is AWFUL at handy pony. And I mean awful!!! :o:rolleyes::p

We're not even entering handy pony this year, as it tends to wind her up so much that any classes after it (generally jumping!) goes to pot!!!!

Good luck Chloe!!!! :D

She makes me proud just getting up in the morning! Anything else is a bonus!!! :D

Good luck with the box, as I've said on FB, it's a breeze and you'll love it!!!

:D

and you didnt take pictures?? how rude lol

next time bandaged legs the apply.. i use the stuff thats like nail varnish, my neds being coloured always have white legs.. i learnt the hard way lol. dolly is a chestnut mare it = pure devil..:D

Paint!!

I am obviously out of it with my lay-off. In my day hooves were made nice with a thick coat of dark oil just before they went into the ring LOL

Ha! Brilliant! Or mine who I'd platted up the night before put him out yesterday with fly mask on to stop him shaking the flies off and he takes his fly mask off and inevitably shakes out all of his platts! Good luck for the show!

Very true!! No pictures though, I thought afterwards that I should have taken some but was too stricken with FULL OUT PANIC at the time that it didn't cross my mind!! So add a wasted comedy opportunity to my pre-show day failures!!

Oooops!!! It is just nail varnish so should you ever venture into using it again keep a bottle of nail varnish remover handy :P

Good Luck tomorrow!

Good idea! Think I might buy a pack of the nail varnish removing wipes - think they'll travel better than yet another bottle of something!!! PS Show day went well.....will do an update soon!! :)

Yes, it's very expensive stuff and, of course, full of everything a pony will ever need to have lovely glossy healthy hooves :o:confused: AND blummin terrible stuff to use!!! Gonna let OH paint them next time, he's better than me at painting stuff!!! :(

Oh you've just gotta love em haven't you!!! I decided against plaiting up the night before - my plaits are bad enough when done immediately before a show!:eek::D
