Dont laugh, it was a PC ODE....
and it was Intro level....
But I am on cloud nine, a *just* turned 5 year olds first competition, first lorry ride, first XC, firstfirstfirstfirst all day. Oh and it was my first competition out here!
we attempted practicing or indeed just riding earlier in the week and it was dire, I wanted to tandoori the TB and mount her head on the front of a lorry DIRE.... And it made me feel 10million times worse as Im away from everyone familiar and no trainers, no vets, no friendly farriers or my mum to weep onto. ( Ok, so Im melodramatic but its true!)
But then......all my gear arrived! All my tack, stuff and bits and bobs, I felt fully dressed and back to feeling semi like I know my bones and Teak works so well in Rubys saddle, its padded out and she just struts in it and can bandage and boot and matchy matchy to my hearts content
Teak had a physio session too, and we had a lesson with Lizzie Brown, a young Kiwi eventer who is based in Marlborough. Not only was I gobsmacked at the pony being a gem, I got to bond over a shared feeling of being very far away from home.
Anyway, it was awesome today! I had so much fun, adopted various peoples grandparents, smiled lots and enjoyed a day out. Ruby was and is the love of my life but I cant get over how easy today felt?
I helped set out the 6 arenas the day before!
in her pen for the day
Piccadilly circus arenas
she got a mark of 25!!!!!
2nd after dressage, I nearly died..
Went into the ring to SJ, popped into canter and just tapped one down
Then a wait where grandparents picnics were commandeered...
And around the XC, with a stop in the middle of a field where she was just feeling overwhelmed and confused, and 2 stops at a baby water splash where I wasnt sure on whether her stop was a childish gawp or an excuse (She met Mr Whippy and suddenly remembered her manners) and she flew around, barrels, tyres, tiger traps and drops.
I am SO proud.
