and I am so excited!! We have always said we are going to break Donovan to harness, so I thought the best thing to do is go to a carriage driving instructor and have a go! So, next saturday, 10am cant come quick enough!

i am in Ashford, kent and we are going tosomewhere near Hastings, E Sussex. Got to go and buy a new hat at the weekend as my old one was mullered in my accident, and have never needed to replace it. Only 8 more sleeps!!!
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

When you go for your lesson in addition to your hat you'll need some gloves, (brown if you're going to buy them for the occasion) and wear some stout, low heel boots like jodphur boots or country boots.
You'll have great fun.

Yep, got my gloves, and OH bought me some lovely new boots a few weeks ago, which sounds like they will fit the job.!

I did a Driving Back to Sport course earlier in the year - it is VERY addictive. Not driven mine yet as they're still to young, but did help out at a driving show last weekend and learnt so much. Really want to do it now, but need to wait and learn more. Cant wait to hear how much you enjoyed it.

Ooo thats brilliant, i'm sure you will have a brilliant time. Who is your lesson with?

The problem i have with driving my boy is getting someone to come with me and actually when its muddy getting my carriage out of the field lol

But my friend is coming with me next Friday :-)

That sounds like a great plan :) I am sure you will enjoy it. My Dad used to drive and both sis and I had a go, but we both found we leant forwards so that we nearly fell out of the cart forwards :D I am sure you won't do that and that you have a great time :D

Just one more day to go! I almost cant contain my excitement now!! havent felt this fired up for a long time and My God it feels good!!!!

I also did a Driving Back to Sport course earlier this year and found it absolutely brilliant. Where did you do yours?
I haven't got my own but am lucky enough to have a friend who lets me drive her pony every week.
I'm even going to compete next month at a very low key competition.
Can't wait.

I have a very damaged back and although I am sore after a HDT I am ok with regular day to day driving make sure you you get the seat set so you feel secure and able use your feet and legs properly.

It was brilliant!! She talked me through all the tack, showed me how to tack up, then we walked and trotted in the school. I loved it! Cant wait to do it again!

At a place called Scropton on Nov 11th. It's very low key (just what I need) and I am so looking forwards to it. PM me and I'll give you directions but it is about a 1 1/2 hrs drive.I'd love to have you there.

You are telling me!!! I now need to find someone local for some lessons, and also to break donovan to harness, as I know It wouldnt be a good idea for me to do it! a bit like the blind leading the blind!!!

I think we need a driving section on here. We'll have to start a petition. Most of the driving forums I've found so far are dead or boring. It would be so much easier than doing a search every time I come on here.

Back to the subject: How you bought Donovan his harness yet?? Come on, get cracking and start long reining :D Breaking to harness is great fun and quite straight forward the hard part is teaching to reverse (for me it is anyway) Let us know how you get on.
