So went to Brook Farm Training Centre (Stapleford Abbotts) for first time today. Took my friend who's first test was at 12:18 (my test not until 18:15!!!)
He was an angel all day - stood in the trailer eating his hay. Anyway by the time I tacked up it was dark and we were spooking all the way down the lorry park into the warmup arena. When we started to warmup he was a tank - trying to rush everywhere, leaning on my hands and completely not listening!
After getting v.stressed then trying to calm down we went in to do Novice 32 - proceeded to spook at the shiny boards and judge sitting at a table (at C) all the way through the test!! Still managed to get 70% and win the class (only 3 in it though)
I was the only one doing the elementary so after the novice I wrapped my legs round him and made him work - he felt much nicer going into the test and he was a lot less spooky.
We did a really nice test - just did halt to canter instead of halt to trot down the centre line
and broke our first counter canter but I was really pleased and came away with 64% and collectives of paces 8, impulsion 7, submission 5 (coz he broke) and rider 7.
All in all a very long but good day and I was really pleased with my first elementary!!
