My horse has had a foot problem & has not run since the bedinning of June. He experienced at novice level and im not sure which event to bring him back at. Im looking to have an entry at the end of august which give me a month to get him straight as hes only come back into work this week. My preference was to do Henbury but will this be to demanding on fitness considering he has not been back in work that long? There is also Milton Keynes to consider (im based in staffordshire). Also with having a foot problem the last i want to do is to run him on uneven ground. Can anyone offer any advice?

If he had more than 3/4 weeks off then I think 1 month is too soon, I think you'd be pushing it to get his base line fitness back and add on the stamina

he ran on the 10th June, where is was hard fit as he had run several times already this year. He then had 2 weeks off & started work again hacking every day for about 10 days then he developed an abcess in his foot & so has had another three weeks box rest after that. He is know back road work again for a week & the he can go start schooling again.

The ground at Milton Keynes can be a bit unpredicable. I wouldnt run anything with foot / leg problems there

thanks for that advice. A couple of people have mentioned that yet they say in eventing magazine that there ground is always gd. Shouldnt be allowed to get away with saying these things just to get people entered up!
