I've a young horse who I've been schooling, and jumping novice bsja, we've not been xc but he's very very brave and puts my older mare to shame. Not done any true canter work. He's reasonably fit, but not event fit. Is six weeks to short notice to get ready for a be 80t? I'm tempted but not sure if I'm being silly! It's a local, very flat event.

That is plenty of time to be well prepared, start to introduce some longer periods of canter work and get him out to school a couple of times and he should be fine, I have got one fit in less than 6 weeks from a basic level of general fitness, plenty of hillwork and lots of steady cantering and he coped well on one of the hottest days of the year. BE80 is not too taxing in any of the phases especially if they are already doing BS comfortably.
