Went to Arena UK to try doing a British Novice class on a ticket. I felt sick sick sick with nerves, not helped when walking the course to be told it was huge and nasty.....!!! Meeeeeep!

She worked in beautifully, calm and responsive, but TINY which I expected!

Two phase course of 14 fences, all seeming to have impressive wings/fillers. We jumped sails, a pair of lighthouses, some hairy poles, and the most enourmous imposing fence with wings that were solid and just huge! lol

We managed to get eliminated at fence 11 - Totally my fault, she was jumping really well, standing right off them, so I came into it and just sat there like a lemon - she told me that wasn't acceptable! I think I was just relieved to get that far and it not to be as hard as I expected.

Felt a bit better though, as by the time we left, there had only been one double clear, and only a handful got into the second phase.

Well, well done for having a go. Is she quite small though as those fences otherwise look large for BN!

I went and did Disc at the weekend and got eliminated at fence 9 and to be honest was totally my fault too as, having been away from BSJA for a bit Disc just looks big (I can't do BN as he's out of that). I am such a chicken!

LadyT - Shes 13.1h!!! Shes tiny, but just ate it up - the elimination was totally utterly my fault & I take all the blame.

Gorgeous pics especially the last one

She does indeed look TINY - how big is she?? And the course looks HUGE for a BN, they're much smaller round us - come down to Wales/Gloucestershire next time

Well done anyway, it won't seem nearly so bad next time

Well done to you, and yes it looks quite big for a BN, obviously they build up to height. Why don't you try an Intro day, they usually have open classes 70cm, 80cm, British Novice and 90cms and you could jump 80cm as a warm up to British Novice.

that is a HUGE BN!! they look rather large for 90cms...although i do know arena uk build up to height, but still...discovery classes (1m) the top pole is midway on the wing, which it looks to be in those photos!! lol

well done

glad you had a good experience, doesnt matter about the elimination- as long as you know she is capable etc, and you can go out again and have a great time

shes gorgeous xx

Well done : )

That looks like the meanest BN I've seen. I hope it wasn't too technical too.

It's good to see a wickle pony out BSJAing in Seniors(?) I can't wait to take my baby pony out and beat those big, fat, old horses arsses!!

I was gonna say they look massive for a BN and i'm now quite terrified about doing 1.05's this weekend on my 14.1hh but if she's only 13.1hh then it's ok that's what i love about jumping ponies in seniors, in the photos it looks like you're jumping much bigger than you are especially if people don't know how big the pony is

Well done don't worry about the elimination, might be worth doing an intro show if they have any near you though to get going
