Hello everyone!

Today I did my first canter and I just want to tell everyone all about it!

Problem is I don't have any horsey friends and I'm not from a horsey family so nobody understands that its a big deal for me. So here I am sharing it with you guys :)

It was a bit bumpy but I really enjoyed it. I know that with practice I will get into the motion and it will feel much smoother. I am interested to know any advice or experiences you lot have to share?!

I have been taking weekly lessons since June and absoloutley loving it so far. X

Glad to hear you enjoyed it. The key is to stay as relaxed as possible and allow the horses motion to carry you at this stage.

So well done :) Same as you I had no horsey family or friends when I started riding and if I talked about what I was doing their eyes would glaze over.
Not sure I enjoyed my first attempt I remember me thinking EEK! Too fast ! :D

Well done you, you have reason to be proud it is a big achievement. My mother still enjoys telling people how she watched in horror through her fingers when I first cantered as there was a lot of space between my bottom and the saddle! That was 35 years ago and I was 6yrs old on (what seemed like a huge horse at the time) a 14hh steady needy at the local riding school. Thankfully in canter my bottom does stay in the saddle now! Lol
