Hi all,

I have had the luxuary at my parents of having my horse literally at the back door (I can see his stable from the kitchen window!) and also the field they run in is infront of the conservatory! However I have now moved about 2 hours away. I have been living here for sometime now but could not afford to move my horse, my mum rode him through the week and me at weekends but now I have decided to make the BIG MOVE!:D

I have a yard that I have been riding horse at through the week and intend to move there, but Im nervous about his introduction and would like some advice on the best way to introduce a new horse. When he was introduced to our other horses at home the most dominant gelding put him through a fence.......even though my horse stands at a towering 17.2!

There is the option fo putting him in a small field on his own for a short time where he can see the other horses, but he will not actualy be beside the horses that I eventually hope to run him with.

OR

we can split the field that he will be going into in half and put him on his own at one side and the other 3 on the other half?

Part of the problem is that the 2 of the other 3 are mares. He has been running with a mare for 8 years so I cant see that being to much of an issue but I dont want him to get hurt or worse, hurt someone elses horse!

OR

Half the field and put the 2 geldings on one side right from the start and the mares on the other side?

Any advice on other experience would be apprecaited! :p

As long as it suits everyone, I'd do option two for a few days to a week, then option three - i.e. in half field alone for a bit then move the other gelding in providing they're getting on (pretty much what we did last time there was a move as well). Good luck and enjoy it.
