I have had my new horse Dazzler for about 6 weeks now. We havent really done any flatwork, just had 1 flatwork lesson and been out to some local SJ. Prior to getting him my jumping confidence had spiraled down, tbh it was make or break I think this time, had I not got the right horse for me I wouldnt have carried on jumping I dont think. I've had a problem with him napping though, he's been trying it on with me and spinning and rearing both out on hacks and going into the ring at the SJ we went to. So I was really worried about how he would be today, mainly leaving the start box for the XC.
Well, long story short.... I came home like this

With a 4th place rosette. Our dressage was pretty rubbish, 44 penalties, I also forgot a move and got the horn blasted at me... I really really hate dressage
Only had 14 mins between that and the SJ so felt very rushed and unprepared and hadnt walked the SJ. He had a teeny try at napping going in but went in fine and was lovely, just one down. Then an hour later we had the XC and I was worried about how he would be.... he was great
We did a flying start and cantered through and he didnt even think about napping
We went round clear and he was just fab
He had a little spook at the steps and tried to drift right, which you can see in the vid, but I havent had that buzz, that great feeling for such a long time and came through the finish feeling on top of the world.
I just LOVE this wee guy, we seem to have clicked so quickly and Im just so relieved to have finally found 'the one'
Im really glad we did the wee 2ft class now, we've been jumping 2ft6 happily but I really wanted a confidence boost and just to find out, would he behave without worrying about anything else. Not sure i like this eventing lark though
Give me hunter trials any day of the week, no plaiting, no scrubbing, no stressage (!), no swapping tack and clothing, and not too many things to think about to confuddle my addled brain
Dazzler was not impressed after we took his plaits out, Elvis eat your heart out-
vid still
movie!
