We are going to a very small Riding Club show on Sunday. My daughter is 11 and rides a 15hh overgrown pony who's sire was a Welsh Sec D. We are only going for fun and experience and are going to enter Family Pony, Ridden Horse/Pony, Ridden Cob or Cob Type and Ridden Hunter Pony/Horse. Do you think she is suitable for all these classes and could one pony possibly qualify for such a variety of classes? Here are a couple of pics.

Really appreciate your views and any advice. Thanks.

PS I am assume she will have to ride in a plain snaffle bridle.

I'm not sure which class he would be most suited too, but for a first show it might be best just to go and see how he behaves and if all is well enter 1 class. Doing four classes might be a bit of a strain both for your daughter, you and the pony.
Good luck

Hope all goes well.

God I am going to sound mean but his feet are very long in both pics and if still like this will be picked up in the showring.

I would do hunter classes on him over the cob classes, and maybe a mountain and moreland?

The only one I would be dubious about woulf be the cob class but as it says cob type you might as well give it a shot. But the others he looks perfect for. Good Luck

he looks like a lovely hunter type, so plait him up, trim his heals and pull his tail. nice plain tack and i dont see any reason why he shouldnt do well (barring any playing up of course). Id be dubious about doing the cobtype class but if you go in for experiance and dont expect to be top of the line (he realy doesnt look a cobtype).

I don't think he looks like a cob. I think hte will be fine for all the other classes.
Good luck and have fun.

Thanks for your replies - I think you are all right and I will not enter the Cob Class, infact I am just going to enter them into the Family Pony and Ridden Pony and leave it at that.

Unfortunately she does have rather boxy feet but its too late to the get the farrier out now but that is denitiely something I will think about in the future.
