As she is nearly 12 months old I took misty to her first flyball session yesterday as she is ball mad. Jeez. It was like she was born knowing how to flyball !! She absolutely loved it, didn't lose any concentration or anything, and was pinging away over the fences :) x

It's great isn't it? My little dog is apparently a natural and had his name down for his first competition after our first session (competition is in a couple of weeks ). He is also ball obsessed and absolutely loves it :D It has also really helped with his confidence as he is generally a very timid dog but now is happy for other people to handle him as long as gets the ball at the end!

Ooh, sounds fun! I am considering having a go at this in the next couple of months when my rescue will be 1 yo. She loves balls/sticks, well anything chase-able really and is pretty good on the retrieve so thought she would be good at flyball (she's some sort of collie/kelpie cross so the right 'type').
So, yours picked it up pretty easily then? How long was your first session and whereabouts in the country are you?

It's an hour session but you don't do it for that whole time , you stop when ready etc. I'm in warwickshire and go to nuneaton dog training club. It was mad how quickly she picked it up, seriously was like she was born knowing how to do it!!!

My Skye took to it like a duck to water, ok she already did agility and was ball mad, but by the end of her 1st session she was doing full runs with changeovers, getting the ball out of the box. My Bertie did the lane and came back with the ball rolled on the floor for him, but his face was a picture the 1st time he took a changeover, he stopped and looked like 'what was that?!'. Skye's daughter, Star, doesn't see the point of getting a ball, she'll happily go down the lane, even do a turn on the box and come back down the lane, even without netting, but she won't get a ball!

beware--it is addictive. lol
My dogs absolutely love it.
It has given my dogs confidence. Weevil--where is your tournament. I'm at Wood Green this Saturday--can't wait as we haven't been to a tournament since last November.

Goya, what team are you with? I'm competing at markfield but my club has a couple of teams at wood green so I am going to pop along with sprocket just to get him used to the competition environment.

I'm with Molten Magnets. Running in Molten Magic team with Monty on Saturday and OH is in Molten Metals with Skye
Do come and say hello. I'll be there all day from about 8am til the bitter end.
Who are you with

ETS I'm in Division 6 and OHG is in Div 9

I'll look out for you:) I'm not sure how long I'll stay as the main aim is to see how Sprocket reacts to the competition atmosphere. I'm with Fenland Firestorm who have 2 teams running (div 5 and 10).
I've only been training for just over a month and already I can confirm how addictive it is!

Be good to meet you. Our divisions are on at the same time in arenas 1 and 2 (hence why OH is running Skye.) but our team has teams in almost every division so we'll be around
We wear Black sweatshirts with turquoise polo shirts
Monty is the noisy b&w BC in the Magic team! He barks for England when he's racing.
