first foal & protective father help with a ?

When should I start feeding my yearling, as her mother is being very rude with her when whe she is having her hard feed, am slightly concerned that she may hurt her when feeding, am worried that the yearling will not be getting her correct protein, both look very well, & the foal does eat a little bit of her mother's feed ,should I just let her mother get on with it (mare first foal) , sorry this maybe be a silly ? but this is my first foal, maybe am being over protective. Foal is now just over 3 mths old

if it were me i would give the foal its own seperate manger.that way the mare will have peace to eat and the foal will get used to eating hard feed by itself.build up gradually and follow feeding guidelines.
