Why do horses get fresh and slightly silly at this time of year?! Is it just me suddenly dealing with a horse that has got too big for his boots, and who does this at this time every year?!

Nope, my normally ploddy docile youngster has turned into a numpty over the last few weeks and now does not know how to walk on a head collar or be sensible on our little walks. It's the last flush of grass and it being a little cooler I think.

I think it is because a horse's instinct is to run around and be more lively when it is cold, thus generating its' own warmth.
