Pointless post alert! Just got back from my first ever hack in the snow :D
What a beautiful afternoon. A light covering of snow on the ground and all the tree boughs and bushes frosted in white. We only had a slight issue with Charlies back feet slipping on a downhill section on grass but apart from that footing was great. Charlie horse had his ears pricked the whole time and a spring in his step :) ASBO cob who I share with my friend had his halo on today and behaved nicely for her.
Days like this are what I envisaged when I started riding. :D:D

Anyone else been out ridling in the snow?

We haven't had any appreciable amount of snow, but I normally do go for a play in it (obvs, from my sig atm! :D) - can't beat a bit of snow :D

Sounds like you had fun then... :)

I went out this afternoon, snow on the ground and more just starting to fall. Bouncy off white pony with quartersheet on and me in my dewliner onesie toasty warm! Even had a couple of canters on unmade land and came back a tad grubby!

My YO lets us ride in her (massive) top field and I'd love to take one of our two for a play in it, but managing it in daylight is a bit difficult! I've got a day off on Thursday so I'm hoping the snow will still be around then and I can go and have a play :D
I used to take my old mare out all the time in the snow when I was still at school and had plenty of daylight hours for riding, but the poor girl is just getting over an abscess so we'll have to see how she feels. I have very fond memories of charging up and down the old railway in the snow!

Went out at 2 for 45mins. The woodland was beautiful and snow was falling so went bareback. My horse loves the snow and kept trying to put her face into the deeper bit. Problem was that when she snorted into it it went all over her face and made her jump! It was really lovely as the snow was soft and fresh so had a lovely canter :)

It started to snow heavy when my friend and I were out for a hack this morn. Think it might have turned my normally placid boy into a bit of a monster as some friends trotted up to join us on the way home and he freaked out jogging sideways, pulling and snorting all the way back. Also couldn't feel my fingers so was glad to get back to the yard safe really.:( I don't think I am a snow person!

We did the opposite and put blankets on as it was really wet snow when we tacked up and ASBO cob has a wimpish TB coat and felt cold. Really love the idea of riding barebacked though. Temperature really dipped on the way back and they were both doing dragon breaths. :)
