Hi all, this is my first post! Late spring/early summer next year I am hoping to look for my first horse! however my maximum budget will be £6000, I've kept an eye on the horse market for a few months and everything around my budget seems to be otttb's, youngsters or have some type of health condition, I'll be preferably looking for an all-rounder type, 8-14, above 14.3hh. Does the market show any inclination to dropping or am I going to find myself in a sticky situation? TIA

I think you will struggle to get what you want for £6000, especially if that needs to include vetting and transport as well. That said, for a first horse, an older horse with a manageable health issue might not be a bad shout? £6000 may well get you an older all rounder who has been there and done it, but needs a bit of TLC and won't be going up the levels.

Everyone has been predicting a sudden crash in the market since 2020 when prices shot up. I do think the market has slowed since then, but prices are still high and things are still selling. Obviously who knows what will happen over the next year, and if you are patient, you may find a bargain.

But I think you may have to be a bit flexible on something for £6000, unfortunately.
