First horse/pony breeds

Thank you everyone, I’m generally looking at adverts that show the horse has a calm temperament suitable for a novice…I’ve been riding many years but class myself as novice

Some of the safest horses I've ever ridden were welsh cobs. You can't tar a whole breed with the same brush. I would do as others suggest as look at temperament over breed. Native breeds *tend* to be more hardy and easier to look after. Once again, that is a generalisation. You also have to take advert descriptions with a pinch of salt, and hope for the best when you go to a viewing. Sadly, lots of sellers are not honest about their horses. Best of luck, it's a bit of a minefield out there!

thank you, I’ve seen quite a few adverts change over time for the same horse with a price reduction which always seems odd to me when the description of the horse actually changed in itself for example
I'll always suggest Fell ponies.

I do have a love for the fell pony although haven’t come across many on the market, but I find them really appealing and something very magical about them I think! Im also quite small so would prefer a pony to a horse!
