What can I be disqualified for? Do both rider and horse need numbers or just the horse?
Thanks you’re a star! I assumed most comps were under BD? Mine is I believeWhat type of comp is it, BD affiliated, non-affiliated, riding club, etc? As they should have the rules as to what you need to do.
For BD numbers go on the horse and you should have numbers on both sides, so either two bridle numbers, or two numbers on the saddle pad. Horse cannot be wearing boots, not even overreach boots. Bits should be on the approved list, and for intro it would need to be a snaffle. If you leave the arena, go wrong, use a voice aid, salute with your whip in your hand, don't salute you will get a deduction of marks, 3 errors and you will be eliminated.
But, don't focus on the negative I'm sure you'll do a great job!
Thank you! It’s a local comp too, at a local yard, so I hope they’ll be more relaxed- last time I went to that venue they were far less strict than previous venues! If it is run under BD rules then your horse needs to have a number on both sides (can be or bridle on saddle pad) you do not have a number on yourself. Horse cannot have boots on for the test or bit guards.
You must wear gloves and depending on the size of your horse your whip must be below 120 cm for horses and 100 cm for ponies.
You can be disqualified for not entering the arena within 90 seconds of the bell sounding.
Have fun![]()
A lot of unaffiliated will follow BD rules but might be more relaxed in some areas, I went to a local comp the other week and they didn't even have numbers, you just told the judge your name on the go aroundThanks you’re a star! I assumed most comps were under BD? Mine is I believe
Mine was like that! (We won!!)A lot of unaffiliated will follow BD rules but might be more relaxed in some areas, I went to a local comp the other week and they didn't even have numbers, you just told the judge your name on the go aroundit was a very relaxed comp! So it's worth checking the event and what rules they are following, but generally you can't go wrong if you align to the BD rules themselves.
