So Iv had my mare for 4 years, and earlier in the year had to move yards, and this one has an indoor school.
So after 4 years of just hacking and generally pottering about I finally decided to start having lessons , I would find Id go in the sachool, get bored and really not end up achieving much.
Well today after our first lesson Im chuffed :) Its marvellous what you can actually do when someone is telling you to!!
Weve discovered that we can actually bend if we try :)

Well done :) Sometimes it's just useful to have another pair of eyes on the ground - it's amazing (embarassing  ) to see what other people will pick up on!

Good on you Katie! You sound just like me, but I'm worse! I've not had a lesson since I was 11 (I'm 26 now!) Suddenly got my arse in gear a couple of months ago and took my first lesson in 15 years (albeit not on my own horse, distance means I struggle for time so it's easier to do it nearer to home). What a difference it makes, I've only had one so far due to money, but I feel so much more motivated when riding Saf in the school (fenced off bit of field lol!) as previously, like you I was a happy hacker and found it hard to motivate myself to school as basically I didn't know what I was doing!

Keep it up :)

Hehe! I stopped having lessons when I got my first pony, as my parents thought I was lucky enough getting a pony (and I was!) so they weren't going to fork out for lessons as well :) Since then I progressed through to Saffron, my Welsh Cob who is great, but I worry that I've not let her reach her potential (she'd have a go at anything!) and she's 17 now so I almost feel I've cheated her by not doing anything other than hacking. We're making up for it now, I'm going to take more lessons on a riding school horse and school Saf more, then aim to enter an Interdressage competition early next year :) I've found it's good to have a goal :D

It is amazing really, by the end of the lesson I was doing things so much better just by someone helping me out/ correcting me when I'm doing my bad habits :)
