Hey, I'm competing at my first ODE at the start of next month, and was just wondering on dress code. The event schedule says you have to go straight from your dressage test onto the SJ and straight from SJ onto XC - doesn't sound like there is any time for changes of clothing/tack. Does that mean I do my Stressage test in my body protector?! rather confused and worried I will get it all wrong and look a tit :eek:

It would be very unusual to go between the phases without changing tack and clothing, so it sounds like the schedule is written in an unclear way. Wait until you get your times through before stressing about it!

there is no way I could XC in my dressage bridle - imagine 800kg of horse blindly galloping about with zero rider influence! And surely most people will want to boot up between the phases.
I would contact the secretary and ask what is meant by the comment.

General rule for ODE's is minimum gap between each discipline should be at least 30 mins. I've done UA and BE and never had anything less.

You should at least have time to change tack and add boots. Even if you use the same saddle for all 3 phases you cannot reasonably be expected to go XC in the same bit as you used for dressage - or go with no boots. What they may mean is basically "get a move on and don't dawdle..." Some people can take an absolute age to perform the most basic of tack changes. And you will have to re-present to tack check. I've also known some unaffilliated venues to just give a dressage time and then you go when ready for SJ and XC - so that might be what they mean. But you will absolutely have time for a basic tack change.
