For my mare this afternoon 12 weeks after her kissing spine operation. The physiotherapist was very pleased with her and gave me a few excercises to do with her for the next 3 weeks on the ground before she re visits. Not a pessoa in sight!

She says that she has the flexability and mobility of any ' normal' horse and it is just a question of building up her core muscles gently. She says that more than likely after the next visit I will be able to start riding and starting walk work with her. I am to get her saddle checked in the mean time. She also said how nice it was to deal with a well mannered horse who had total respect for it's handler even in a rope headcollar and lead rope

My mare had 4 spinal processes removed. She has not had any extensive re-hab,( ie after her initial 4 weeks box rest with in hand grazing, she went back out into a paddock ) and has been doing her own thing in the field for the last 8 weeks or so. I know now that I absolutely made the right decision and am so pleased with my mare's progress so far. Watch this space.
