First 'proper' hack

So... today I went for a hack...um to Hatfield forest and met a lovely girl on the way. It was a rocky start as my mare was very nappy away from the yard. But she encountered everything today...we saw vans, lorries, horses in fields diggers, bridges, and special motor- cycle barriers on the bridle way, and we rode up and down steps. We also had our first ever canter....and she came back to walk so quickly. There was no jogging, no spooking and no naughty behaviour at all. She was a star and we did the return journey on our own... she went first and last. I couldnt ask for much more really. I guess at least she will be staying for a few more weeks! It makes me feel warm and goey inside when i think she was unrideable and was close to being shot last jan. Sorry a pointless post but the first one where i feel we have had something to shout about!
 
Well done to you and your horse.

I know how hard the work is, as I watched my wife turn a rearing, nappy, spinning monster into a bomb proof pony.
