So I’ve bitten the bullet and we’re going showjumping at Alnwick Ford on Sunday. Only to do a 60 and 70 so nice and easy, and we have been there for dressage.

Half of me is dreading it, the other half is very excited. Rosie is fab, she goes to any venue and behaves despite being a babyish 6 yr old, I’m the problem!

Terrible nerves and anxiety, even though everything is always fine. I will be alright! I will!

Yes you will be fine ,go get it done and the next time it will be easier

I’m sure I will and I’m always fine once I’m there and on the horse. I had a bad fall a couple of years ago and everything is now suddenly a big deal when it wasn’t before. Fall didn’t even involve showjumping!!

I think everyone gets nervous before competing. Totally normal. In fact it would be a bit weird if you didn't!

It does get easier the more you do it. I hadn't competed for years before the latter half of last year and I had to have a drink on the way there! It's far more manageable now. Helps that my horse can be a complete twit if out so I'm usually focusing on him than having my mind drift off to the 'What ifs' of the event itself!

I am sure, in fact I know, I will be fine. She’s such a chilled out young horse as well and loves jumping. Might have a wee sip of whisky before I go in 😂
