Took my new pony to the local PC show on Saturday. I entered a novice working hunter with fences of 2ft
eek:
) because what with the OH being so busy with haymaking then combining I have only managed to have one lesson so I am still rather out of practice, my riding is still pants and confidence over fences low.
It was rather a long course for a WH with fourteen fences, some of them portable xc fences. Anyway, he warmed up nicely but got a bit keen as soon as we went in, but settled down again after a couple of fences. I felt my riding was really untidy and we weren't meeting the fences as well as I would have liked, but he honestly carried me round clear despite my numpty riding! He went beautifully when we went back in for the flat bit. We didn't have to do an individual show but had to trot up inhand. He was not so keen on this bit and I had a job to get just a sloppy, half hearted trot out of him.
Much to my surprise we were placed first out of the six that had gone back in the ring and the judge was very complimentary about him.

We were also second in the PC pony and the open section of the handy pony (evidently he has done this before) although these classes were not well supported with only four in each.
He was impeccably behaved all day and the longer I have him the more I think how lucky I am to have bought such a lovely pony!
I will add links to pro pics later, photographer's website doesn't seem to be working ATM.
