Hi everyone,

I have a beautiful 5 year old irish mare, shes amazing and had our first show last week which was dressage and we got a 2nd and 3rd so i was so proud of her.
A local yard is having a showing show, its not super strict however i would like to stick to all the rules with regards to dress code etc, also what classes are we allowed to enter?

Any advice you be very very welcome :)
Thank you in advance
Lucy

Without knowing what classes they are running it is not easy to advise on which will be suitable, also a bit more info on your mare would help, height, type and level of education will make a difference as to what she could do.
Most local shows are low key and cater for novice horses and riders so there is bound to be something for you, turnout is easier to advise on as show classes are traditional so the rider wears tweed jacket, shirt and tie, beige jods, long boots, brown gloves and carry a cane or short whip, horse should be smartly presented, plaited, unless traditional or hogged, trimmed up and tack should be simple, a saddle shaped numnah, no squares, that is a discrete colour, plain bridle probably a snaffle and possibly a velvet browband if you do a riding horse class otherwise a plain one, dressage bling is not a good look in the show ring.

If you come back with more details and even better a photo you will get more detailed answers.
