Just a bit of background, W went to his first showjumping clinic at the weekend and was a complete star. I've had him since June just broken and he's done a working hunter class at the local show, a dressage comp, and a clear round jumping at the yard where were are based. He's also done 2 cross country clinics, and jumped everything first time, very bold but quite strong!!

The aim is to event him next year... hopefully

Anyway, he didn't look at anything, jumping even scarey fillers straightaway and was just fab! A few little pics in picture gallery (i'm a novice at this picture posting thing so bear with me!!)

Hopefully going out in a few weeks to do some gridwork to tidy up his technique a bit and then some indoor showjumping and dressage through the winter months! Very excited!

Ah, EJ, it seems we are in the same boat! I have a 4 yo too who I hope to event next year but we are a little behind you. I have taken mine to 2 dressage comps and we have a SJ clinic in a few weeks so really looking forward to that. Hopefully it won't be embarassing!

Sounds like you are doing well and will be flying about next year! What area are you in? And where are these piccys? (I'm a bit crap with this forum lark, even though it is fab!).

Bless. Where was your clinic at? I am in Leicestershire and can never find anything for my baby.

I have a 4 year old but he is a little more advanced as he was imported earlier in May and had already jumped 2 x 4 year old classes in France. They start them differently abroad don't they? I keep doing a couple of shows then giving him a week off as i think he is quite special and the longer you take the longer they last.

I'm in the south - Hampshire ish area. I'd love to get him out and about all the time but I have a transport issue so hiring people costs a bomb and I can't afford to get him out as much as I'd like.

Yes I think they get them going earlier abroad.... I am no showjumper though, its purely a means to an end with me!

I wouldn't even have a clue what those 4 year classes in France entail. I suspect they may be a bit bigger though!

Saskia thats rubbish! Poor you, paying for transport is way too expensive for my liking - its all hard enough as it is! I wisely suggest buying a trailer on your credit card!!

That would be ace, only problem is, I still don't have a big enough car to tow! Unless of course I still that on a credit card too......

A person called Mitchell Moor, he is very good trains junior european team, i think. its £15.00 usually 4 or 5. works very much on pole and accuracy rather than jumping massive fences.
