Okay, Here goes!

Mare has been running with Jack since april 19th! Would she be showing signs of being pregnancy now? She looks to have a rather round belly (Not fat!)

What else should I look out for?

Also, has anybody got any reccomendations for good books, so I can do my research on foaling/raising the foal and her pregnancy? :)

Thanks!

She should have been scanned earlier in the year to rule out twins. My mare is clearly in foal and she conceived 1st May, but has been scanned three times since then. You may call your vet to ascertain if she is in foal, if you have no idea how long in foal she could be I suspect vet will examine her. Agree with mynutmeg on the books.

I agree with Kacey88. Get her scanned by your vet. You need to know for sure, make sure all is ok and know roughly how far along she is so you know when she is due. My mare went to the stud so had a definite insemination date and was checked by the vet soon after to make sure she had taken. She was scanned three times during her pregnancy. Having a 'due date' sometimes doesn't help at all but it did with my mare, she was only a day 'late'!

It depends if he covered her, and if so, when he covered her.

Probably would have made more sense to ask for these recommendations prior to running the mare with the stallion and all books and breeders would have strongly suggested you scan the mare to make sure she is not carrying twins. Let's hope she isn't. Breeding isn't rocket science, a lot of what you do is just common sense. There are a ton of books out there, as is the Internet filled with information for anyone just starting out breeding. Make use of it.

Belly pictures.
Too me she looks like she has a belly, but then I see her everyday! She's worm-free and out during the day, in at night with hay.

Not sure if this one is any use, she is stood at an angle grazing!

Will try and get better pictures of her stood square in a few days..

I thought when you said "Jack" it was the stallion's name! No idea about donkeys. Those books will be of little use to you I presume. Feeding is probably totally different?

Still though, I'd say the same idea applies, get the vet out. No point in asking a bunch of horse breeders if she looks in foal or not. Guesses will not change the fact that you still need a vet to know for sure.

This is an odd thread! :D

Oh I don't know whether she's pregnant or not and I hadn't realised she was a donkey. We have a donkey who comes here every year for a brush-up training each spring and I have to say your donkey's belly looks quite round like his. Just call the vet and have her checked lol! then you'll know.

Seriously? You think uploading a few pictures of your maybe/maybe not in foal jenny to a forum is the best way to find out if she is pregnant or not??

Why on earth haven't you had her scanned or blood tested to confirm whether she's in foal or not?

If your vet confirms she is pregnant then it would be in your jenny's best interests if you sent her to an experienced breeder to foal.

No, I know it isn't. I was asking peoples opinions of whether she could be showing by this time, if she is pregnant.
Vet is coming out at the end of the month to have her checked over.

Donkeys are in foal for at least a year aren't they? So earliest she will foal is end of april. If she is a maiden it wouldn't be unusual for her to hide the pregnancy for another while, or to go a little longer.

Another vote for "foal to full grown". When foaling time comes just be prepared for a few sleepless nights and to have vets number on speed dial just in case. Sending a mare off to stud to foal is a bit extreme. Just be well read before the time comes. One thing that isn't mentioned in most books is prolapse. So know what to look out for that situation too. If the vet is coming out then they can stop the guessing games! It's too hard to tell with a maiden.

Good luck!

I've had experiance with lambing, but not so much foaling!!

Well, as a previous poster as already pointed out, that rather depends if the jack covered her, and if so, when he covered her. Great that you intend to have a vet check her.
