So I have entered the intro B 2009 dressage in three weeks time.

My horse has not been ridden in the arena, so hoping to go there for a practice run with my instructor to go through the test and a practice of riding in the arena.

I am quite worried about how my boy will (or maybe won't) behave. I am a 2 min wall from the place, so wondering if I should do some warming up at home, walk down and just have a quiet 5 mins in the warm up having a walk and trot round, or just do all the warm up when at the show?

He will be quite nervous and tense so I need ways to keep him and me calm...

Do I plait him, hes fully clipped with a full mane and tail.
I wear a navy tweed jacket, black boots, navy velvet silk and a white shirt.

Any advice, info etc... first dressage test drive for me and my boy

Thank you :)

Is he quite young? Sounds like a great plan to go for a practice run at venue with instructor. Yes, I'd warm up some at home I think, leaving enough time for him to soak up the atmosphere when he gets to competition. Have fun and just keep reminding yourself you are just there for the experience this time. And try some rescue remedy for yourself! Outfit sounds fab btw and plaiting totally up to you. Good luck, enjoy :)

Don't forget you have to wear gloves and your horse can't have boots/bandages on when doing your test.

I am also a big fan of Rescue Remedy!

Good luck.
