Have already posted in NL about my horses generally, including the fact that this coming Saturday I'm taking my 4yo Standardbred pacer hunting for the first time.

Haven't hunted on a horse for a few years but have been following in a vehicle the whole time. People have been nagging me to find a horse and get back into it and the time has come to bite the bullet and take my Big Ears! She's having her shoes put on tomorrow and all the tack is spotless, brand new sheepskin numnah has arrived and is fitted. She's in good condition and still pretty fit from racing through the summer.

If only I could get myself as organised! Can't for the life of me remember where I put my boots and half chaps (can't even remember when I last wore them?!), think I may have seen my hunting jacket in a wardrobe when my parents room was redecorated, not a clue where any of my shirts are either! The only thing I know I'll be able to find when I'm rushing around Friday night like a headless chicken is my riding hat!

Wish me luck!

Have fun, my standardbred is shaping up to be a brilliant hunter, they are such a versatile breed :)

Last New Year's Day at the meet we had 36 horses following, 7 of them were Standardbreds! It's become a new 'fashion' I think!

My first hunting mare was a pacer and we had a whale of a time, despite the fact she was a total fruit loop and it was a successful day if I didn't fall off! At least with this one things are generally done at a much calmer pace...
