Im buzzing!
I love my yard but it is in leeds and to get to any decent off road hacking we have to cross Leeds main ring road.
This is my first horse who i bought to share with my daughter 2 years ago - since she got fed up and Id fallen in love I needed lots of lessons and confidence building to get the stage I am today where aged 44 me and my horse took to the ring road by ourselves! ( i was really meant to be the groom, maybe a little plod in the school)
Today for safety reasons my non horsey husband walked with us but on the actual ring road we had to trot on for quite a while before turning right, thus leaving hubby far behind - and we did it - my boy was a star!
Im so pleased because my ultimate goal has been to cross this dammed road - you can only get to decent hacking by doing so.
Yard mates have been brilliant in building up our confidence and they as well as my instructor have worked so hard to get us where we are today.
At the beginning of this summer I would only go on this busy road with a very experienced friend and her bombproof cob blocking us in from the traffic and holding a leadrope attached to us!

I was told a long time i would never do it without a lot of blood, sweat and tears - well they forget to mention fabulous friends and instructors.

Round of applause for Darkhorse! Yet another lovely positive post which really does help others who are struggling at the moment.

Well done you and all your helpers.
