Hello.

As some may know Lilly got joint sepsis on her knee from the tiniest ever puncture wound back in the new year. They operated on her at Liphook and saved her. She recovered well, did 6 weeks of stable rest and then a month in the field rest (it was meant to be 6 weeks but she was being such a gallopy hooligan that the vet said to get on a ride her in walk)

Was going very bouncilly!! Vet said probably best to do 5 mins trot to settle her down as of this week which was going well. I think the problem was that 2 days after the surgery she was sound and thought she was A ok and so is getting annoyed that were not doing anything!!

Then on Monday morning Lilly was doing her normal self exercise so I thought Id video it for the vet to see what sort of field rest she was on!!

Lovely and quiet!! He called today and said probably best to crack on a little bit more to try and shorten the amount of time she spends doing that!!

So today we had a little school (in my new birthday subtle eurostar matchy set and my super posh patent bridle and loads sparkly browband!!) There arnt many pics as she only did 5 mins in trot!

She only did about 5 mins of trotting but it was so lovely, I know she has lost alot of muscle from not working but it will be back and its a special day when you get to have a little school on your pony that the vet said we might loose a few months ago.

Its funny we were laughing at how far she has come from her just out of racing days!! Her new bridle cost over half of what she cost me a few years ago!!!!

Meanwhile my spottie Dottie (who is almost 4) has been having fun...

Learning to walk over poles

So will probably be another 6 weeks before Lilly can go dressaging and start jumping again. Dottie is going to do another week or 2 of work and then go on holiday again until she is properly 4 (in July) and the baby might go see the big wide world at some baby shows.

:)

aww what a lovely bunch you have :)
Glad to hear Lilly is on the mend and I LOVE her bridle...you can never have too many sparkles and matchy matchy if you ask me :D

They are all lovely and Lily certainly looks very fit and well galloping round her field! Glad she is doing so well she looks like she will be a fab dressage horse.

Thanks! Lilly would cry if she read that though, she only lives for jumping and galloping (as video!!) She has even jumped out of the arena just to spice schooling up!!

She is looking more and more like a dressage diva now though! Its only because she will only get to BD and I dont think she will get to do any eventing until mid to late on in the season (and maybe not at all :(:( ) at least shes still here though which was something that might not of been if liphook hadnt done such a good job in January :)

Lilly looks gorgeous!! What a happy bunch of ponies :)

Super pleased for you to be back on her, must be such a relief for you.

Thanks guys. My lot are mostly quite cheery (read mischievious!!)

I am very lucky to have such amazing vets. I dread to think what would of happened if he hadn't tested the seemingly perfect joint fluid when he went back to the practice (at 10:30pm on a Saturday night) would of probably meant no lilly by the morning.

It is very special being back on her and she's loving it which makes it even more so (ps sorry for gushing!)

Oh I missed this! Glad she is doing so well!

What bridle / noseband did you get in the end?

She got the patent noseband from Ooetman, it's really nice and wasn't too expensive. We are definitely all the gear no idea on the flat now!!!

She's being really good though, she's had a good 4 months off schooling and riding her for a few mins in there now it doesn't even feel like she's had a break which is nice. Hopefully it continues onwards and upwards!
