I hope weather is improving for people; it seems to be drying up here and some sunshine at last. It will be chilly though!

No riding plans for me but today was the first day in a good two-three weeks where I've felt better and not like I'm at death's door. I managed a 30 min bimble walk with the dog which I am very proud of. Long Covid is still a thing I have to learn to navigate but today I'm back to that more hopeful place that it can get better. Resisting urge to book in to a lesson tomorrow, missing riding for another week will probably do me good and I need to avoid overdoing activity or I'll crash again.

I'm not letting that get in the way of my riding/horsey goals for this year though! I've sent emails to see about booking in hacks at Cirencester Park and on the Ridgeway at/near Barbury. Been watching my favourite horse vlogs for inspiration. Lining up which BE events I'd like to see in my new calendar. Got my eye on a side saddle experience day with photoshoot (OH and I haven't done each other's Christmas presents yet soooo... :D). Signed up to write for one of the BD Winter Area festivals (my first BD event).

What are others up to this weekend? I hope for better weather for everyone!

I tried to dressage on Wed. Wind and rain came sideways, pony lost the plot so I retired. Not entirely sure the judge could see me through his wall of water but I was wet enough without being dumped in a lake. We seem to have a problem with that location so I'm going to find a day when the weather is more benign and take him back for arena hire.

I'm not quite sure what to do this weekend. The local bridlepaths were flooded this morning but everyone needs exercise so it might be roadwork.

Roll on drier weather please.

Wednesday was absolutely horrible here- I was back at work but no way I would have ridden so well done for trying!

Unless there is some very rapid drying tomorrow I think we may also have got to the stage where some of the hacking is limited by flooding! Supposedly a dry week next week, but I'll believe it when I see it!

@SaddlePsych'D that’s lots of good things to plan

I’ve managed to ride most days and hacked tonight. He is being clipped tomorrow and I feel a bit mean as it’s going cold but he has lots of warm clothes.

You know those days where you should have stayed at home? One of those!

very exciting weekend for me, going to look at a potential towing car! and of course making the most of the predicted sunshine to hack out, even if it will still be freezing!🥶 also the proud owner of new clipper blades, trimmers and tail rake, so will have to find time to give them a test drive😂

hope everyone else has a fab time!

I'm 8 months into Long Covid and I strongly recommend (after trial and error) leaving riding for several more weeks, unfortunately, as its harder work than you think if you do more than walk.
I know everyone's symptoms etc are different but err on the side of caution where exercise is concerned and really try to stay in your energy envelop and very gradually try and expand it.
I jumped back into things too quickly, had a massive relapse and am only just back where I was in July 😞

I started a thread for long covid moans in the tackroom, it's faded away but could revive if you'd like a place to share frustrations.

My exciting weekend plans for months have just been to get on board and poddle down the road. Somedays tacking up requires to much effort.

Hello everyone, I'm venturing out of the retraining racehorses thread for 2024. I've got a dressage lesson on Saturday afternoon, our regular 2 weekly lesson with our lovely trainer, which I'm really looking forward to. We'll be working on bend and lateral work again this week.

I hope we're all eventually going to get some nice dry weather for weekend training!!

First competition of 2024 ✅

He was a really good boy, which is a bonus as I went on my own! I made a couple of mistakes in both the inter 1 and inter 1 music and he got in a muddle over the piris in the music. Pleased with 68.97% and 68% respectively.

I think he’s still a little tucked up from our beach trip the weekend before but still so pretty 😄 He honestly couldn’t have been more sensible yesterday, really chuffed with him.

I had an excellent lesson with Amber on Saturday; she relaxed and tried hard. It also confirmed that she's not pulling. She is, in fact, finally starting to lift through her top line and extend her neck. We started on loops from the track in canter, which is now our homework. She can do it easily if I really collect up, but she's now ready to find the balance to do it in working canter. I know that might sound backwards, but it's where we're at.
Sunday was an impromptu hack with 2 liveries we'd not been out with before; we went through the middle of the village past the co-op, post office and green, which she'd not done before, and back again. Amber led the way, no bother; I'm really proud of her. It was her first time being the lead horse. :)

Hope everyone who managed to get out and about had good weekends and that everyone who was too soaked to be able to get much done still enjoyed what they were able to do.

I ventured out for a BS on Saturday and it was good to get out for the first competition of the year. Horse was delighted to be out and although we had a pole in each class I was happy as they were full up tracks, that were causing a lot of problems and we'd had a quieter Christmas due to the weather so it was just good to be out.

Rode on Saturday and did our first canter circle since his last competition at end of September and very nice it was too. Lots of good weekends all round from the sounds of it.

Well we're a looooong way off from performing like @nikkimariet (he looks stunning btw) but my little cob stormed his e-riders Intro championship and I'm chuffed to bits with him, especially as I know there was a rider error - but I had just one chance to film over Xmas before my field turned to mush

Now I just need to persuade him to keep that level of concentration away from home and work on our canter at home so we can start prelim. We did a tonne of work on left canter last year after it got icky and now he kindly offers me left canter all the time. We'll stick to Intro away from home whilst he still finds it all very exciting but I am totally bored of the 3 tests now.

Hacked over the weekend and unfortunately he heard the hounds (the kennels are pretty close across the fields). Complete and utter meltdown right on a blind bend. Fortunately a kindly jogger stopped the traffic while I pretended to get control. Ended up hopping off and hanging on for dear life in someone's driveway waiting for his brain to log back in again.
