First show this year and a winters worth of grease to wash out of a very mucky cob!
This is my 4yr cob, backed last year and turned away, been back in work since feb. She has been going very nicely at home, hacking and a bit of schooling.
Decided to take her in the w&t test - she was very on her toes in the warm up and got strong - something i have not yet experienced with her, still better than being the other way - sometimes she can be slow off the leg!
She went lovely in the test, nice and forward and relaxed, although felt a tad slugish - i was very pleased with her and delighted we won with 67%
looks like we will be leaving the w&t tests behind now and moving onto prelim
Next was the cob class, the one i really wanted to do! disappointed to see only 3 in the class but still the experience was good for her. She went well untill we did the individual
she threw a HUGE buck in canter - almost unseating me - again something she has never done before! there where horses jumping in the practice ring next to us so she got a tad excited
We where pulled in 2nd - comments from the judge where nice and gave me some tips. Judge said that her time will come as shes a very nice cob, its just a real shame she threw the buck in
also advised me to hog her closer as she looked a bit cresty
All in all a good day out - the show itself was busy, lots of horses and people about so she got to see a lot!! all good experience
We have a big(ish) show in august am aiming to do - another cob class so will be working toward that now and a few dressage outings coming up
I expect shes tired after her day out so a day chilling in the field tomorrow for her and an early night for me!!
A few pics
She looks nice and uphill here in this canter pic - although she felt very strong!!
